Summary

Position/Job Summary:

Provide support and/or coverage in various areas of the College by performing clerical duties and projects for administration, faculty and students of Pennsylvania College of Health Sciences.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The percentage of time spent performing primary functions is 100%.  Qualified individuals must have the ability with or without reasonable accommodation to perform the following duties.

  • Promote and contribute to the enhancement of PA College’s high performing learner-centered environment   
  • Provide exceptional customer service through in person, electronic and telephone interactions.
  • Provide general information, answer questions and direct individuals to appropriate party or service as necessary.
  • Assist with the tasks and duties of the assigned work area as delegated by the department supervisor.
  • Maintain excellent working knowledge of the assigned area in order to direct inquiries. 
  • Perform general receptionist duties, including typing, copying, filing correspondence, memos, letters, generic email boxes, etc.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities: The percentage of time spent performing secondary functions is 0%.  The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above.

Education Requirements: Specific Education, Certifications, and Licensure.

  • Active enrollment in a certificate or degree program at PA College.

  • Customer Service experience.
  • Familiar with College resources, systems, and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Attention/Concentration: The following level of ability is essential for the jobholder to focus on certain aspects of current experience and reject others.

  • The position requires the ability to attend to more than one aspect of a situation simultaneously.  It is highly likely that multiple task demands are going to be required of the individual at the same time.

New Learning and Memory: The following level of ability is essential for the jobholder to learn and retain material.

  • Job demands are only moderately routine and predictable.  Minor changes may occur which require the individual to be able to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions.

Problem Solving, Reasoning and Creative Thinking: The following level of ability that is essential for the jobholder to think (in order to solve a problem) by combining two or more elements from past experience or imaginative thought.

  • The position requires the ability to evaluate existing options to resolve a presenting problem.  The resolutions or options are clearly defined, limited in number and are altered infrequently.  Selection of the most appropriate solution is based on well-established and defined guidelines.

Reading Ability:

  • Ability to use common vocabulary; to read at a slow rate; define unfamiliar words in dictionaries for meaning, spelling, and pronunciation; to read instructions, basic safety rules, etc.

Writing Ability:

  • Ability to write compound and complex sentences, using cursive style (or Braille equivalent), proper end punctuation, and employing adjectives and adverbs.

Speaking/Communication Ability:  

  • Ability to communicate distinctly with appropriate pauses and emphasis; correct pronunciation (or sign equivalent) and variation in word order; using present, perfect, and future tenses.

Mathematics: The following levels of ability are necessary to understand mathematical concepts and apply them to problem-solving situations.

  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers.
  • Ability to multiply and divide.
  • Ability to perform the four basic arithmetic operations with coins as part of a dollar.
  • Ability to perform operations with units such as inch, foot, yard, ounce and pound (and/or their metric counterparts).
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure.
  • Ability to perform the four operations with like or common decimal fractions.
